PairLume Safety and Crisis Support: Scope and Limits
What PairLume is designed for, the situations it is not designed for, how we handle risk in sessions and the community, and where to get immediate help.
Being clear about limits is part of being trustworthy. PairLume is an educational relationship wellness platform. It is not therapy, not medical care, and not an emergency service.
If you need help right now
If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency number. Our [crisis resources](/crisis) page lists hotlines by country for suicide risk, domestic abuse and mental health emergencies. Please use them ahead of anything on this platform.
What we are designed for
Recurring conversations that stall. Communication patterns. Conflict repair. Planning and follow through. Distance. Rebuilding after a breach of trust where both people want to rebuild.
What we are not designed for
Abuse, coercive control, or fear of a partner. Joint conversation work can be unsafe here, and the right first step is a specialist service. Active mental health crises. Anything requiring diagnosis, medication, or clinical documentation. Legal disputes, custody matters, or anything needing a formal assessment.
How risk is handled in a session
If a session surfaces risk of harm, the guidance stops the exercise and surfaces crisis resources rather than continuing as if it were a communication problem. It will not attempt to counsel someone through an emergency.
Professionals and scope
Every professional on PairLume agrees to work inside their scope and to refer out when a situation needs clinical care. A coach telling you they can treat a diagnosed condition is a scope breach, and you should report it. Full detail in [licensed and non licensed](/how we verify/licensed and unlicensed).
Reporting a professional
Every profile and every booking can be reported. Reports reach our team, not the professional. We review the booking history, the message thread and their response, and outcomes range from a warning to removal and a refund.
Reporting a member
Community posts and comments have a report action, and moderators handle them. Harassment, doxxing and content that identifies a real person are removed.
Content standards
We use non clinical language deliberately. Our professionals are wellness professionals, our sessions are guidance, and we do not describe outcomes as treatment. That is not marketing caution, it is an accurate description of what the platform provides.
