PairLume runs in a browser and as native apps on iOS and Android. Your account, sessions, wallet and library are the same everywhere. A few things differ, and it is better that you know before you hit them.

Email, Google and Apple sign in all work on every platform. Signing in on a second device does not sign you out of the first, so partners can each stay signed in on their own phone and a laptop.

Sessions

Guided sessions work in a browser and in the apps. Voice input and spoken replies work on all three, subject to the microphone permission your device asks for. Video sessions with a professional run in the app or in a modern browser.

Purchases

On iPhone and iPad, digital purchases go through Apple's in app purchase system because Apple requires it. That is why some buy buttons look different or are absent in the iOS app, and why refunds for those purchases are handled by Apple rather than by us. On Android and the web, purchases go through our payment provider and refunds come back to your wallet or card. Details in [refunds and disputes](/how it works/refunds).

Notifications

The apps can send push notifications for booking reminders, messages from a professional, and replies in the community. You choose which categories you want in your notification settings, and turning a category off applies across your devices. The web version uses in app notifications.

Face ID and biometric lock

The iOS and Android apps can lock behind Face ID, Touch ID or your device biometric. Useful if your partner shares your phone and you use solo sessions.

Offline behaviour

Sessions need a connection. If your network drops mid session, the app tells you plainly rather than showing a technical error, and reconnecting picks the conversation back up.

Which to use

Use the apps if you want notifications, biometric lock and the smoothest video. Use the web if you are buying courses or books, or if you are on a laptop and would rather type.
