Starting a Room in PairLume Community
A checklist for members who want to run a new Room, and a realistic view of the work involved.
A Room is easier to start than to keep alive. Most Rooms that fail do so in the first month because there is no one steering the tone. Before you apply, ask yourself if you can spend twenty minutes a day for the first sixty days welcoming new members, answering questions, and gently redirecting off topic posts.
To apply, open Community, tap the plus button, and choose Request a Room. Give it a short name, a one paragraph description, and three to five rules that are specific to your topic. Vague rules like be respectful are already covered by the global rules and do not help.
Our team reviews requests weekly. We approve Rooms that fill a gap, have a clear topic, and come from a member with good standing. We decline Rooms that overlap heavily with an existing Room, target a specific person, or exist mainly to promote something.
Once approved, you become the first admin. You can add contributors, set entry requirements, and pin posts. You cannot see the identities of members and you cannot read private messages between them.
