Handling Downvotes in PairLume Community
Downvotes sting. Here is how to read them, when to ignore them, and when they are actually telling you something useful.
Nobody enjoys the little minus number under something they wrote. The first instinct is usually to delete the post, and that is almost always the wrong move. The thread might already be helping someone who has not commented yet.
Most downvotes are not about you. They mean the post landed in the wrong room, or the title made people expect a different topic, or the timing hit the wrong crowd. None of that is a verdict on your relationship or your writing.
If a post gets a few downvotes early, the fix is usually to edit the title or add a short line at the top explaining what you are actually asking. That reframe often turns the score around within an hour.

If the downvotes keep coming and the comments feel hostile, close the thread in your head and step away from the app for the evening. You can revisit it tomorrow with fresh eyes, or archive it and move on.
