How Karma Works in PairLume Community
Karma is not a leaderboard. It is a quiet signal that you are the kind of person other people want in the room.
Every time someone upvotes your post or comment, you earn a small amount of karma. Every time your post is removed by moderators or reported and confirmed, you lose some. The number is intentionally small and slow. You cannot farm it, and you cannot buy it.
Karma unlocks three things. First, the ability to post in Rooms that require a minimum reputation. Second, badges next to your handle so other members know you have been around for a while and behaved well. Third, higher trust with our auto moderation, which means fewer of your posts get held for review.
We designed karma to reward the behaviour we actually want. Long thoughtful comments earn more than one word replies. Answering someone in a support Room earns more than posting a hot take. Deleting your own post because you changed your mind does not cost you anything.
If you ever lose karma unfairly, you can appeal from the post itself. A human moderator will look at it within a day.
