Safety in Difficult Relationships
If your partner monitors your phone, these settings and habits matter more than any post you write.
If you are in a relationship where being seen using PairLume could put you at risk, please read this before you post.
Install the app on a device your partner does not have the passcode for. If that is not possible, use the web version in a private browsing window and sign out every time. Do not save your password to the browser.
Use a handle that has no connection to your name, your other accounts, or shared inside jokes with your partner. Do not upload a profile photo.
Turn off notifications for PairLume on the lock screen. Notification previews have exposed more people than posts themselves.
If you need to leave the app quickly, the four finger swipe down on iPhone and the recent apps clear on Android are faster than closing tabs.
If you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency number first. PairLume Community is a place to think out loud. It is not built for emergencies.
