PairLume Community Friends: How Requests and Privacy Work

Friends are not followers. Here is what changes when you send a request, and what stays the same.

Friends in Community are quieter than friends on a social app. There is no news feed of what they are doing, no photos of their weekend, no follower count that matters. Adding someone is closer to putting them on speed dial than to following them.

When you send a friend request, the other person sees it in their inbox and can accept or ignore it. If they accept, both of you can DM each other regardless of your usual privacy setting. That is the main thing that changes.

Friends do not see your saved posts, your karma history, or which rooms you belong to. They see the same public profile everyone else sees. The friendship just means the DM door is open between you two.


You can remove a friend at any time, and the app does not tell them. If things get uncomfortable, block is a stronger option that hides both of you from each other completely.
